The schedule will be announced soon by the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region. President Joe Biden also confirmed that an official state funeral will be held in Washington, D.C.
Carter’s burial will take place next to his late wife, Rosalynn, in their beloved hometown of Plains. Carter had shared in past interviews that he and Rosalynn always planned to return to Plains, where they had strong family ties.
As for Donald Trump, it’s not yet clear whether he will attend the funeral. He shared his condolences on Truth Social, remembering the challenges Carter faced as president and the gratitude owed to him for his service. Trump expressed his thoughts and prayers for the Carter family during this difficult time.
In his final vote, Carter chose to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris before his passing, despite not supporting Trump.
