Taylor Swift has publicly supported Kamala Harris for president shortly after Harris’s debate with Donald Trump. In a post on Instagram, the singer said she had carefully thought about her decision.

Swift shared, “I’m voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 election because Harris fights for the rights that I think need a strong advocate.”

Swift praised Harris, calling her a “calm and talented leader” and saying she believes the country will progress better with steady leadership instead of chaos.

Swift signed off her post humorously as “Childless Cat Lady,” in response to remarks made by Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, who had previously criticized Democrats like Harris using that phrase.

Swift also spoke highly of Harris’s vice-presidential pick, Tim Walz, highlighting his long-time support for LGBTQ+ rights and women’s issues.

Additionally, the singer explained that part of her decision to go public with her support was due to a false AI-generated image of her endorsing Trump circulating online, which heightened her concerns about AI and misinformation.

This isn’t the first time Swift has voiced her political choices; she had also endorsed Biden and Harris in the 2020 election.

Her post, according to BBC, quickly gained attention with over two million likes in just half an hour.

Swift ended by encouraging her followers, especially first-time voters, to register and do their own research before making their voting choices.
