New Russian Rule: If You Can’t Travel Abroad, Hand Over Passport in 5 Days!

Starting Monday, Russians banned from international travel must surrender their passports within 5 days. This rule applies to conscripts, FSB employees, convicts, and those with access to sensitive information. The returned passports will be kept by issuing authorities like the interior or foreign ministries.

When the travel ban ends, applicants can retrieve their passports.

Those restricted due to military service must also provide a military ID and proof of completed service. This move follows reports of passport confiscations to prevent overseas trips by senior officials.
