The trial of former President Trump for alleged hush-money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels is underway in New York.

Prosecutors claim Trump orchestrated a cover-up to hide the $130,000 payment before the 2016 election. They argue it was election fraud.

Trump’s lawyer insists his client did nothing wrong and that influencing an election isn’t illegal. The prosecution alleges Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, and the Trump Organization’s CFO falsified records to conceal the payment.

Trump’s defense portrays Cohen as untrustworthy and questions the relevance of the alleged false records.

The trial, which is the first of its kind involving a former president, is expected to last six weeks.

The outcome may hinge on Cohen’s testimony and whether it supports the prosecution’s claims.
