“Oncology Dietitian Reveals the One Food She Never Eats to Prevent Cancer”

Nichole Andrews, an oncology dietitian, is sharing her top tip for cancer prevention: she completely avoids processed meats. According to Andrews, who helps cancer patients choose the best foods for their health, processed meats like bacon, ham, and sausages are linked to higher cancer risks, particularly colorectal cancer. This is due to harmful chemicals used in these meats that can damage DNA and potentially cause cancer.

The World Health Organization has classified processed meats as carcinogenic, which means they can directly cause cancer. Cooking these meats at high temperatures can create additional harmful compounds.

Andrews also avoids alcohol, as even small amounts can increase the risk of several cancers. She emphasizes that while no single food can prevent cancer on its own, a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and low in processed foods and sugars, can significantly reduce cancer risk.
