Nigeria Advances to AFCON Quarter-Finals with Lookman’s Double Against Cameroon

Nigeria secured a spot in the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with a convincing 2-0 victory over Cameroon, thanks to Ademola Lookman’s stellar performance. Lookman, playing as a forward for Atalanta, showcased his talent by scoring both goals in the match.

Lookman’s first goal came nine minutes before halftime, capitalizing on a defensive error by Oumar Gonzalez and a smart assist from Victor Osimhen. His second goal, in the final minute of the game, was the result of a brilliant team play, volleying home Calvin Bassey’s cross.

Cameroon, despite bringing on Vincent Aboubakar, failed to pose any significant threat to Nigeria’s defense and couldn’t register a shot on target throughout the game.

This victory sets up an exciting quarter-final clash between Nigeria and Angola, promising an intense showdown on the field.

Despite the disappointment for Cameroon, especially for coach Rigobert Song, Nigeria’s win underscores their dominance in this tournament and their ability to rise above challenges.
