Lavrov Criticizes West During Congo Visit, Supports Libya Peace Talks

During his Africa tour, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov criticized the West’s actions in Ukraine and Libya while visiting Congo, according to France 24.

Lavrov backed Congo’s President Sassou Nguesso’s initiative for a peace conference in Libya and blamed NATO for Libya’s troubles.

He also said that Ukraine is being used by the West to undermine Russia.

Lavrov noted that without Russia, an upcoming peace conference on Ukraine is pointless.

Russia warned that Western military trainers in Ukraine could be targeted by its forces.

Russia is increasingly active in African diplomacy to challenge Western influence.
