Meta, the company that owns Instagram, has announced that Dame Judi Dench and John Cena will be among the voices available for its AI chatbot.
Users can also choose voices from other celebrities like Awkwafina, Keegan-Michael Key, or Kristen Bell.
Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, revealed this news during their Connect event, where he also introduced the first prototype of their new augmented-reality (AR) glasses, named Orion.
According to Zuckerberg, voice interaction will feel more natural when talking to AI than typing.
Another new feature allows the AI to recognize objects in photos and provide information about them. It will also be able to edit images based on user commands.
More than 400 million people are using Meta’s AI each month, with 185 million returning weekly.
Zuckerberg described the Orion AR glasses as one of the most advanced technologies people have seen. Users can control the glasses using hand movements, voice commands, or a wrist device.
Meta also introduced a new, more affordable version of their Quest mixed-reality headsets, starting at $300.
Meta has invested billions into AI, AR, and the metaverse, expecting to spend as much as $40 billion on new technology this year. Before the event, Meta’s stock value reached a record high.
The company’s stock has increased by over 60% since the beginning of the year, according to the BBC.
