Democrat Kamala Harris, celebrating her 60th birthday on Sunday, will visit two churches in Georgia to encourage early voting, while her Republican opponent, Donald Trump, will stop by a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania.
Harris and Trump are closely tied in the race for president, especially in key battleground states. With only 16 days left until the election, both are working hard to gain support.
On Sunday, Harris will visit churches near Atlanta as part of her “Souls to the Polls” initiative, which aims to motivate voters through gospel music and speeches from faith leaders.
Music legend Stevie Wonder will join her at one of the churches, performing to celebrate her birthday and energize the crowd.
Harris will focus on getting strong support from cities like Atlanta and Detroit, where many voters are people of color. These cities were important to Joe Biden’s victory in 2020, and Harris hopes to repeat that success.
Meanwhile, Trump will spend part of his Sunday at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania, joking that he’ll work in the french fries area to make fun of Harris.
Trump doesn’t believe Harris’s claim that she worked at a McDonald’s when she was younger.
Afterward, Trump plans to hold a rally in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he’s hoping to gain momentum in the polls as some voters begin sending in their mail-in ballots.
According to Reuters, both candidates are focusing on states like Pennsylvania and Michigan, which are expected to play a crucial role in deciding the election outcome.
