A woman has died and two others are missing after a migrant boat needed rescue in the English Channel. The boat, carrying 50 migrants, ran into trouble off the French coast.
Despite efforts from French authorities, one person couldn’t be revived, and two are presumed dead.
The UK government is aware but defers to French authorities for investigation.
This incident is part of a series of rescues, with 180 people saved that day.
While fewer crossings were attempted last year, around 30,000 migrants still reached the UK.
So far this year, over 2,000 migrants have arrived.
