Divers have found five bodies from a luxury yacht that sank off the coast of Sicily, including those of several wealthy passengers.

According to the BBC, the yacht, called the Bayesian, went down during freak weather, possibly due to a tornado, leaving six people missing.

Rescuers have been searching for days and have recovered four bodies so far, but the identities have not yet been officially confirmed by authorities.

The passengers included well-known British entrepreneur Mike Lynch, whose wife owns the yacht, and other high-profile individuals, according to the BBC.

The sinking happened early on Monday, and the yacht is lying 50 meters deep on the seabed, which has made rescue operations very difficult.

According to the BBC, divers have been struggling with limited visibility and debris blocking access points to the wreck. A British mother on board managed to save her baby by holding her above water, and 15 people survived the disaster.

Italian authorities have not yet released the names of those recovered because, by law, the victims must be identified by family members first, as reported by the BBC.

The rescue effort continues, with teams of specialists and even helicopters being deployed.

The BBC also highlighted that the yacht was carrying 22 people in total, and those on board were guests of Mr. Lynch, who had recently celebrated a legal victory.

An investigation into the cause of the sinking is expected later, but for now, the focus remains on finding all the missing passengers, according to the BBC.
