Three Black men are suing American Airlines for racial discrimination, claiming they were briefly removed from a flight because of a complaint about body odor.

The men, who didn’t know each other and were seated separately, said every Black man on the January 5 flight from Phoenix to New York was asked to leave the plane. They believe they were singled out because of their race.

The airline is investigating the incident, stating it doesn’t align with their values. The men were allowed back on the flight after no other flights were available that night.

They felt humiliated by the experience and are seeking damages. One plaintiff compared the situation to the discrimination faced by Civil Rights icon Rosa Parks.

In 2017, the NAACP advised Black travelers to avoid American Airlines due to discrimination but lifted the warning after the airline made changes.
