President Joe Biden has decided to drop out of the presidential race after growing pressure from Democrats who wanted him to end his reelection campaign. He has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s new nominee.
According to CNN, Biden couldn’t persuade key Democrats that he could beat former President Donald Trump in the November election, especially after his poor showing in the June CNN presidential debate.
In a phone call with CNN just after Biden’s announcement, Trump called Biden “the worst president in the history of our country.”
Additionally, Senator Joe Manchin, an Independent, was the latest prominent politician to urge Biden to step aside. He told CNN on Sunday morning that Biden should “pass the torch” to younger leaders.
This move indicates a significant shift in the Democratic Party’s strategy and leadership.
