Apple is telling us not to use rice to dry out our wet iPhones. You might have heard that trick before, but it turns out it could actually harm your phone.

BBC reported that Apple now officially says to avoid it. Instead, they suggest gently tapping out any liquid and letting the phone dry with the connector facing down.

Other common methods like using a hairdryer or sticking things into the phone are also discouraged.

It’s interesting to see how we’ve relied on simple fixes for our gadgets, but as technology evolves, so should our solutions.

Nowadays, newer iPhones are built to handle water better, like the iPhone 12 and later models, which can even survive being submerged for up to half an hour.

So, while these traditional fixes might still be useful for older models, it’s good to keep up with the latest advice as technology changes.
