Félix Tshisekedi, the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, has appointed Judith Suminwa Tuluka as the country’s first female Prime Minister, replacing Sama Lukonde who resigned earlier.
Tuluka, a former planning minister, expressed determination to tackle the significant challenges ahead with the support of the president and the nation.
Her appointment comes after a prolonged search for a majority coalition in the National Assembly, with the ruling Union for Democracy and Social Progress party securing the majority position.
Tuluka is now tasked with forming a new cabinet in the coming weeks, as she takes on the leadership of the government.
