Recent research suggests that High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) may be the most effective exercise for faster stroke recovery, Parade reports.

Unlike continuous, moderate exercise, HIIT involves short bursts of intense activity followed by rest, and it can be done at home without special equipment.

Studies show that HIIT improves cardiorespiratory fitness—how well your body delivers oxygen during exercise—more effectively than moderate exercise.

Specifically, people doing HIIT saw twice the improvement compared to those doing moderate exercise.

This approach can boost cardiovascular health by improving heart function, lowering blood pressure, and increasing insulin sensitivity, according to Dr. Rohit Vuppuluri, a vascular cardiologist quoted by Parade.

HIIT workouts can include activities like jumping rope, planking, or running in short bursts of one minute, followed by rest periods of up to two minutes.

If HIIT seems too intense, any form of exercise is beneficial, but always consult your doctor first to choose the best routine for your condition.
