He described their marriage as a ‘sloppy experiment in unconditional love.’
Will Smith surprised Jada Pinkett Smith during her talk at Baltimore’s Enoch Pratt Free Library on October 18. Jada was chatting with CNN’s Laura Coates about her headline-making memoir ‘Worthy’ when Will unexpectedly joined the conversation. Coates hinted at the surprise by asking Jada about her family’s thoughts on the book, then revealed that Will and others from her family were present.
Smith made his way to the stage as the audience gasped, and had nothing but kind words to share about his wife.
“I had huge dreams of what I wanted to do in the world and in my life, and I was on fire with a vision. And as I stand here before you today, I am happier than I’ve ever been in my entire life,” he shared, adding that his dreams were “largely built on the foundation of Jada’s sacrifices.”
Will Smith mentioned that he didn’t know about the rumors of their possible divorce because he was in Papua New Guinea working on a project about nature variety. He only found out about it when he got to Sydney, Australia.
Will Smith said, “Our marriage is like a messy test of never-ending love. Jada is the greatest friend I’ve ever had, and I’ll always be there for her, supporting her for the rest of my life.”
Before Will Smith surprised everyone during the talk, Jada Pinkett Smith told Laura Coates that she and her husband are doing well. She said, “The real fact is, I’m sticking with Will and he’s sticking with me. We’ve been on a strong journey. And I’m feeling more joyful than ever.”
Not long ago, Pinkett Smith talked to Hoda Kotb on the Today show. She revealed that she and Smith took time apart in 2016. She also talked about this separation in her book.
However, after sparking widespread conversation online about their marriage, Pinkett Smith made another Today show appearance days after, clarifying to Kotb that she and the I Am Legend star are now “super solid” and had to go their separate ways to “really see each other and find out way back.”
She added, “There is no divorce in theory. We really have been working hard at bringing our relationship together, back to a life partnership.
