The US has warned Israel that it must improve the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza within 30 days, or it could lose some military support. This message was delivered in a letter sent by the US government, showing deep concern about the worsening situation in Gaza.
The letter points out that 1.7 million Palestinians in the crowded al-Mawasi area are in danger of deadly disease due to poor living conditions. The US wants Israel to allow more aid, such as food and medical supplies, to reach these people, especially before winter.
The letter also mentions that in September, Israel blocked or slowed down 90% of aid deliveries from northern to southern Gaza, which has made things worse. Israel, however, insists that it is not stopping aid, blaming other organizations for the issue.
The US is a major supplier of weapons to Israel, but it has laws preventing military help to countries that block US humanitarian aid. The letter, signed by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, says Israel needs to let 350 aid trucks enter Gaza every day and allow more freedom of movement for people in al-Mawasi.
This situation is part of the larger conflict between Israel and Hamas, with many civilians caught in the middle. As of now, no official response has been made by Israel, but the pressure from the US could bring changes. BBC reported that this is the strongest written warning the US has sent to Israel regarding the Gaza conflict.
