Donald Trump is involved in several criminal cases while running for president again. Recently, he called Judge Tanya Chutkan “the most evil person” after she released over 1,800 pages of evidence in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s case against him. This case is about Trump’s alleged role in trying to overturn the 2020 election.
Trump accused the judge of interfering with the upcoming election because she refused to delay the release of the evidence until after the November vote.
Trump and his legal team had requested that the evidence stay private until later, but the judge said keeping it secret could also be seen as affecting the election.
She argued that if the public has the right to see this information, hiding it could be viewed as a form of interference itself.
Some experts have questioned whether releasing such information close to an election breaks a justice department rule, which advises against actions that could impact an election within 60 days of voting. However, Judge Chutkan stuck to her decision.
The documents made public on Friday mostly cover information that was already known. It includes parts of former Vice-President Mike Pence’s autobiography and details about his refusal to help Trump overturn the 2020 election.
The release is part of a motion filed by Jack Smith, who is accusing Trump of conspiring to illegally change the election results.
On a podcast with right-wing host Dan Bongino, Trump harshly criticized Judge Chutkan and called the special counsel “a sick puppy.”
Trump’s legal battles also include other cases, such as being convicted of 34 felony counts in New York related to hush-money payments.
According to the BBC, Trump is facing multiple serious legal challenges while aiming to return to the White House .
