George Clooney has urged Joe Biden to drop out of the US presidential race, pointing to the president’s age as a major concern.
Clooney, a major Democratic fundraiser, argued that Biden, despite his achievements, cannot fight against time.
His comments came after Nancy Pelosi, a senior Democrat, avoided directly addressing whether Biden should stay in the race.
Pelosi mentioned that time was “running short” for Biden to decide, especially after a poor debate performance against Donald Trump.
Despite Biden’s insistence on continuing, Clooney emphasized that the president’s age would be a disadvantage in the upcoming election.
He also noted that his views were shared by other members of Congress. The president’s campaign remains committed to his candidacy, but dissent within the Democratic Party is growing.
Meanwhile, some prominent Democrats, like California Governor Gavin Newsom, still support Biden.
However, others, including some congress members, are urging him to step aside for the good of the party and the country.
