Sudan Faces Internet Shutdown Amid Civil War; Blame on Paramilitary Group

Sudan is experiencing a blackout in internet services, and many point fingers at the paramilitary group, Rapid Support Forces (RSF), involved in the country’s ongoing civil war.

While RSF denies responsibility, internet monitoring watchdog NetBlocks reports a “new collapse of internet connectivity.”

Some blame RSF for the disruption, but conflicting reports suggest the army may have ordered communication severance in certain regions.

The blackout exacerbates the challenges faced by a nation already grappling with conflict.

The UN has called for $4.1 billion in humanitarian aid for the millions affected by the crisis, emphasizing the urgency of addressing Sudan’s dire situation.
