Trump suffered an ear injury in July assassination attempt
A police sniper played a crucial role in stopping an assassination attempt on Donald Trump in July, according to a new report. The sniper shot at the weapon of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the would-be assassin, which disrupted his aim and knocked him off balance. This intervention delayed Crooks, who was later killed by a Secret Service sharpshooter.
The incident happened during Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. Crooks had fired several shots, injuring one person fatally and critically wounding two others. The sniper’s action helped prevent further casualties by briefly stopping Crooks from firing accurately.
Following the attack, security around Trump has tightened. Reports reveal that local authorities and the Secret Service had planned extensive security measures, including snipers and counterassault teams. However, frustration emerged over security lapses, and Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle resigned amid criticism.
Trump will now receive enhanced protection, including bulletproof glass for his rallies, to ensure his safety during public events. The FBI and Congress are investigating the security failures that allowed the assassination attempt to occur.
