Several senior members of President Joe Biden’s Democratic party have reportedly joined calls for him to pass his candidacy for November’s election to another candidate, according to US media.
During a private call with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, four congressmen directly urged Biden to consider stepping aside due to concerns over his recent debate performance and questions about his fitness for office.
While Biden remains determined to continue his campaign, other Democrats believe a change may be necessary to enhance their chances against Donald Trump.
The scrutiny around Biden’s candidacy is set to increase as lawmakers return to Capitol Hill and Biden hosts a summit with NATO leaders in Washington.
