Project 2025 Leader Quits to Focus on Trump’s 2024 Bid
Paul Dans, the director of the conservative Project 2025, has resigned from his position at the Heritage Foundation to dedicate himself to helping Donald Trump win the 2024 election.
Dans announced his departure, stating he will now focus entirely on Trump’s campaign, expressing his commitment with the phrase “winning, bigly!”
Project 2025, which Dans helped create, includes ambitious proposals like giving the president more power, cutting federal services, restricting abortion, and implementing large tax cuts.
Despite being linked to Trump through former administration members who helped draft it, Trump himself has distanced himself from the document, saying he disagrees with many of its ideas.
Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, praised Dans for his leadership over the past two years and will now lead the project. According to a source familiar with the situation, the project will continue despite Dans’s departure.
Dans will leave his role as head of Project 2025 in August to focus on the upcoming elections. He described the project’s policy platform as a tool to support a future conservative administration.
A Project 2025 advisory board member confirmed that their work, including a list of policy recommendations and potential hires, will be submitted to Trump’s campaign for review.
The project’s main document, known as the Mandate for Leadership, outlines several major policy goals, including reducing the size of the federal government and cutting funding for renewable energy.
Critics argue that Project 2025 reflects Trump’s agenda, while Trump’s campaign has stated that the project should not be linked to his campaign.
Vice-President Kamala Harris’s team has criticized the project, calling it a hidden agenda by Trump’s allies, and urged voters to be wary of its implications.
