Over 100 Arrested in Spain for WhatsApp ‘Son in Trouble’ Scam
Spanish police apprehended more than 100 individuals involved in a scheme where they posed as distressed relatives on WhatsApp to dupe users into sending money.
The group fraudulently obtained nearly a million euros in total.
The scam, which targeted victims across various regions, involved convincing victims to transfer money by pretending to be in urgent need.
Similar scams have also affected UK residents, highlighting the global reach of such fraudulent activities.
