Building work on two new health centers in Lincoln and Skegness has reached an important stage, according to the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
The trust announced that the main structures of the buildings are now complete, and the £38 million project is about halfway finished.
These centers will offer various diagnostic services like X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and ultrasounds, with both facilities expected to open in the autumn.
The new centers aim to reduce waiting times and make it easier for people to get tests done. In recent weeks, 71 modular units were put in place—42 in Lincoln and 29 in Skegness—forming the building shells.
The Skegness center will also have a special chemotherapy room to help cancer patients avoid long travel, as well as a dental X-ray facility, which is new to the town.
The Lincoln center, located at the Lincoln Science and Innovation Park, will have special training facilities for future radiographers. Prof Karen Dunderdale, the chief executive of Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group, shared that they are on track to open these new centers before the year ends.
She added that their ongoing work at other sites is already making a big difference by improving access to care, and they believe these new centers will continue to make testing easier and faster.
