Miami Police Release Bodycam Video of Tyreek Hill’s Traffic Stop
Miami police have shared bodycam footage of a traffic stop involving NFL player Tyreek Hill, showing him being removed from his car and handcuffed. The incident occurred just before the start of the season opener at Hard Rock Stadium.
The Miami Dolphins expressed disappointment over the “overly aggressive and violent conduct” of the officers and called for disciplinary action. However, the local police union claims the officers acted appropriately.
The footage reveals that officers stopped Hill’s car near the stadium. When Hill rolled down his window, he was told he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt. After a brief exchange, Hill was ordered out of the car and was handcuffed. The officers then made him sit on the curb.
Two of Hill’s teammates, Calais Campbell and Jonnu Smith, were also present and Campbell was handcuffed when he tried to intervene. Despite the incident, Hill attended the game and scored a touchdown.
Hill later expressed confusion about the stop and was cited for careless driving and not wearing a seatbelt. The police department is investigating the incident and one officer has been placed on administrative duties. The local police union labeled Hill as “uncooperative,” but Hill’s attorney disputes this claim, saying the video tells a different story.
