Henry Kissinger, the former US Secretary of State, passed away recently, and world leaders praised him as a diplomatic giant.

However, in Cambodia, memories of Kissinger are stained by the devastating consequences of the secret bombing raids during the Vietnam War.

The US dropped over 2 million tons of bombs on Cambodia, causing immense destruction and estimated casualties ranging from 50,000 to 150,000.

The bombings, approved by Kissinger, not only left a lasting impact on the country but are also linked to the rise of the Khmer Rouge and the subsequent genocide.

Despite international accolades, many Cambodians harbor deep resentment, viewing Kissinger as a figure responsible for the tragic events that unfolded in their homeland.
