Country singer Jason Aldean dedicated his controversial song “Try That In A Small Town” to former President Donald Trump just hours after Trump survived an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania on July 13.

During his concert in Nashville, Aldean called Trump a “friend of mine” and played the song for him, leading the crowd to chant “U.S.A.!”.

He also commented on the upcoming presidential election, saying, “We all know what’s gonna happen come November, so it’s all good.”

The song “Try That In A Small Town” has been criticized for its lyrics and for being filmed at a courthouse in Tennessee with a history of racial violence.

Aldean defended the location choice, stating that many small-town courthouses in the South have troubling histories.

Aldean’s dedication to Trump was met with praise from many of his fans. This move added another layer of controversy to the song, connecting it directly to the former president.
