Aid workers are warning that Sudan is facing one of the worst famines in many years as the country is torn apart by civil war, according to BBC.

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) said starvation is spreading “almost everywhere” across war-torn Sudan.

BBC visited a hospital in Omdurman, just across the River Nile from the capital, Khartoum, to witness the dire situation firsthand.

Sudan’s hunger crisis has reached a critical level, with the ongoing conflict making it nearly impossible for people to access food.

BBC explains that many families are struggling to survive, and aid organizations are finding it hard to reach those in need.

This famine could become one of the most severe the country has ever seen if urgent action isn’t taken.
