An Indian preacher, Bhole Baba, who led a crowded religious event where 121 people were crushed to death, has said he is “deeply disturbed” but believes no one can change their fate.

His comments have sparked anger in India. Bhole Baba claimed that death is inevitable and that the timing is uncertain, which has upset many people.

The deadly crush happened in early July at a Hindu gathering in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. Most of the victims were women.

Although some event organizers have been arrested, Bhole Baba has not been questioned or named in the police case. A special investigation report blames the organizers and points out failures by the police and local officials.

Authorities had allowed 80,000 people to attend, but about 250,000 showed up. The crush happened when chaos erupted as people rushed to touch dust touched by Bhole Baba.

The preacher has denied these claims and instead suggested that “poisonous gas” was used and that there is a conspiracy against him, although these allegations are unproven.

Families of the victims and many social media users are demanding Bhole Baba’s arrest and expressing frustration that he has not been held accountable.

Some users have criticized the lack of legal action against him, calling for justice and questioning the police’s response.

Bhole Baba, whose real name is Suraj Pal, is a former police constable who became a religious preacher. He has gained many followers but is now under intense scrutiny after the tragedy.
