Storing Ozempic Properly: What You Need to Know About Keeping Your Weight Loss Medication Safe
Ozempic, a popular injectable for lowering A1C and sometimes used for weight loss, must be stored carefully to maintain its effectiveness.
When you first get it, it needs refrigeration between 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C). If not refrigerated, it can lose potency and may cause more side effects.
Once you start using it, you can store the pen at room temperature (59°F to 86°F) for up to 56 days or until its expiration date, whichever comes first.
After this period, any unused medication should be discarded, even if it looks okay.
Always protect Ozempic from heat and direct sunlight, and pay attention to its expiration date to ensure safety and effectiveness. If you’re traveling, keep it close or in a cooler with ice packs to maintain the recommended temperature.
