Charles Cyphers, famous for playing Sheriff Leigh Brackett in three Halloween movies, has passed away at the age of 85.

According to Parade, his manager Chris Roe confirmed that Cyphers died from a short illness on August 4 in Tucson, Arizona. Roe described Cyphers as a kind and sensitive man who was great at telling stories and will be deeply missed.

Cyphers first appeared in John Carpenter’s Halloween in 1978, alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, and later reprised his role in Halloween II (1981) and Halloween Kills (2021).

His final film project was Halloween Kills. He also worked with Carpenter on Assault on Precinct 13 (1976) and appeared in many TV shows over his career, including Barnaby Jones, The Six Million Dollar Man, and ER.

Nancy Kyes, one of Cyphers’ co-stars, shared her sadness, recalling him as a friend who always had a kind word and a good laugh.

His family has asked for privacy as they plan a memorial service.
