Grammy-winning producer The-Dream is trying to have parts of a sexual assault lawsuit against him dismissed. The lawsuit, filed by Chanaaz Mangroe, also known as Channii Monroe, accuses The-Dream of rape and sexual battery. He denies the claims.
His lawyers argue that the lawsuit is too vague and contains irrelevant details meant to damage his reputation. They want the court to dismiss the rape claim, stating it isn’t a separate civil action under California law, and to remove his label, Contra Paris, LLC, from the case.
Mangroe’s lawsuit describes various allegations, including forced sex, physical abuse, and threats. She seeks damages for lost wages and emotional distress. The-Dream, known for his work with stars like Beyoncé and Rihanna, has called the accusations false and damaging. His representatives are pushing back against the lawsuit, claiming it is not credible.
BBC News reports that Mangroe’s team is ready to challenge these arguments and move forward with the case.
