Twitter, now called Social Media Platform X and owned by Elon Musk, faced a global outage for just over an hour on Thursday.

Over 47,000 US users and some in the UK and Asia experienced access issues. The hashtag #TwitterDown trended, but the platform was quickly restored.

Since Musk’s acquisition, X has seen a decline in advertising revenue and faced accusations of hosting antisemitic posts alongside ads.

The platform sued Media Matters for America over such claims. Last month, Musk criticized advertisers leaving X, warning it could harm the platform.

The EU suspects X of violating rules on illegal content and disinformation.
