Ex-NFL Star Mike Williams’ Death Linked to Tooth Infection, First Case of Its Kind, Says Medical Examiner

Former NFL wide receiver Mike Williams played four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Former NFL player Mike Williams passed away due to a tooth infection that led to sepsis, according to the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Williams, who died on September 12 in Tampa, Florida, had initially suffered a construction accident on August 21.

Despite being admitted to the hospital and going through intensive care, he succumbed to bacterial sepsis with complications.

This marks the first known case of a death directly related to dental-related sepsis in county records dating back to the mid-’80s.

Williams, a talented wide receiver, had a successful career, playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Buffalo Bills. (Source: CNN)
