Dick Van Dyke, 98, Sets Record at Daytime Emmys

Dick Van Dyke, at 98, delighted fans with a surprise appearance at the 51st Daytime Emmy Awards on June 7, where he made history.

Known for his role in Mary Poppins, Van Dyke was in the audience and won the award for “Guest Performance in a Daytime Drama Series” for his role in Days of Our Lives, making him the oldest Daytime Emmy winner ever.

Fans praised his youthful appearance and charming presence. Van Dyke joked about his age during his acceptance speech, saying, “I’ve been playing old men my whole life.

If I would have known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.”

With a career spanning decades, Van Dyke has won multiple Emmys and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from SAG-AFTRA in 2012.

He credits his longevity to staying active and loving his work.
