The 30-year-old daughter of Bekwai’s MCE, Kwaku Kyei Baffour, was tragically shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in Kumasi on Thursday, August 3, 2023.

Law enforcement authorities have initiated a probe into the circumstances surrounding the demise of an adult woman, Akua Serwaa Kyei, on August 3, 2023, in Atwima Bebu, situated in the Ashanti Region.

Reportedly, the husband of the deceased informed that he arrived home around 5:30pm on the aforementioned date, only to discover his wife unconscious at the rear of their residence. He promptly rushed her to a medical facility, where regrettably, she was declared dead upon arrival. The husband also claimed that their living area and bedroom had been unlawfully entered, and a television set had been stolen.

Initial evaluation of the incident site by the Police Crime Scene unit has shown that no signs of forced entry, such as broken doors or windows, were evident in the house.

Furthermore, following an examination of the deceased’s body at the hospital, no evidence of physical violence or gunshot wounds was identified.

The body has been transported to the mortuary for preservation purposes, pending an autopsy, as the investigation progresses.

The Police have visited the bereaved family and are collaborating closely with them to unveil the truth and ensure those responsible for this act face legal consequences. The Inspector-General of Police personally reached out to the family via telephone to assure them of a comprehensive inquiry into the matter. Additionally, a Police clinical psychologist has been designated to offer support to the grieving family during this challenging period.
