Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen is still recovering from an attack last week but continues to lead the country.

In an interview with Danish broadcaster DR, she admitted she’s not fully herself yet after a man hit her in Copenhagen’s old town. The incident, which caused whiplash, wasn’t politically motivated.

A 39-year-old Polish man was arrested and charged with violence against a public official, though he denies it.

Frederiksen, 46, emphasized that violence has no place in Danish society. World leaders condemned the attack, with EU chief Charles Michel expressing outrage.

Frederiksen, Denmark’s youngest prime minister since 2019, had to pause her campaign for the European elections due to the assault.

Despite her party losing to the Green-Left SF party, she remains focused on listening to the voters.
