Celine Dion’s team is upset with former President Donald Trump for using her hit song “My Heart Will Go On” without permission at a campaign event.

The song, from the 1997 movie Titanic, was played at a rally in Bozeman, Montana, just before Trump spoke. Dion’s team clarified that she does not support this use of her music.

This isn’t the first time artists have protested their music being used by politicians. Neil Young, Queen, and the Rolling Stones have also criticized Trump for using their songs at his rallies.

Other musicians, like Eminem and Bruce Springsteen, have similarly objected when their songs were used by political figures.

Politicians often use music at rallies, sometimes without directly asking for permission. They can buy licenses to use many songs legally, but artists can still ask to have their music removed from these lists.

BBC has detailed Dion’s reaction and the broader issue of musicians’ rights regarding their work’s use in politics.
