Tragedy Strikes as Boat Capsizes, Killing Dozens of Ethiopian Migrants

A devastating incident unfolded off the coast of Djibouti as a boat carrying Ethiopian migrants capsized, resulting in the deaths of at least 33 people, including a young boy.

The migrants were part of a group attempting to cross the Red Sea from Yemen to Ethiopia. While some were rescued, many remain missing.

Survivors, visibly shaken, were brought ashore and received medical attention before being repatriated to Ethiopia by the UN’s migration agency.

The tragedy highlights the dangers faced by migrants seeking better lives, often fleeing conflict and hardship in their home countries.

This is not the first such incident in the region, as illegal journeys through Djibouti and Yemen have claimed numerous lives over the years.

Ethiopia’s ambassador to Djibouti expressed condolences, emphasizing the perilous nature of these journeys.
