The Belgian data protection agency has received a complaint about DeepSeek, a Chinese artificial intelligence company, according to a spokesperson for the Belgian privacy watchdog.

Meanwhile, Luxembourg’s data protection agency, the CNPD, said it has not received any complaints about DeepSeek but is aware of the potential risks linked to the company’s services.

A CNPD spokesperson told Reuters that they are looking into how DeepSeek processes personal data, both in Luxembourg and across Europe, in collaboration with other European data protection authorities.

DeepSeek recently launched its latest version, DeepSeek 3, which has raised concerns about user privacy. The CNPD is exploring ways to analyze how DeepSeek handles personal data, working with other European agencies under the European Data Protection Board.

This move highlights growing scrutiny over how tech companies, especially those in artificial intelligence, manage and protect user information.
