In a recent speech at his Bedminster Golf Club, Donald Trump tried to show a new side by focusing more on policy and less on personal attacks.

For the first time, he spoke in a more detailed way about issues like rising prices, using everyday items like breakfast oats and bread as props. This speech marked a shift from his usual style, where personal insults and dramatic claims were common.

Trump listed several price increases under the current administration, although some of his claims were questioned.

For example, he said that flour and eggs had risen significantly in price, but some reports show that prices for certain items, like bread and coffee, have actually fallen.

While he did make some attacks on Kamala Harris, calling her a “communist” and questioning her love for the country, the speech was less harsh than usual.

This new approach seemed to please some Republicans who have been concerned about his previous tactics.

Despite his efforts to focus on policy, Trump still made some unverified claims, like saying that 100% of new jobs went to migrants and that other countries are deliberately sending their prisoners and mentally ill people to the US. He also repeated his false claims about winning the 2020 election.

The key question now is whether Trump can keep up this new, more policy-focused approach. Although he started to drift back into his usual style during the Q&A session, claiming that he’s “entitled to personal attacks” because he feels others are not nice to him.

The speech was an attempt to connect with voters on important issues, even if it didn’t completely abandon his familiar style of rhetoric.

BBC News reports that this shift in Trump’s approach was aimed at addressing concerns from his party and reaching out to voters affected by current issues.
