“The Alaska Representative is going back home to be with their family,” as stated.

Alaska Rep. Mary Peltola’s office has confirmed that her dear husband, Eugene “Gene” Peltola Jr., has passed away in a plane crash. This sad news was shared in a statement on Wednesday morning. Anton McParland, Peltola’s Chief of Staff, expressed their deep sorrow, saying, “We’re very sad to tell you that Mary’s husband, Eugene Peltola Jr., known as ‘Buzzy’ to all of us who cared for him, passed away this morning due to a plane accident in Alaska.”

McParland described him as someone who excelled at everything and had a great sense of humor that could make even the happiest moments brighter.

“He was the main cook in the family and valued family above all else,” the statement also mentioned.

The National Transportation Safety Board is looking into the Piper PA 18-150 Super Cub crash, which happened for reasons that are not yet known, as reported by ABC News.

According to the NTSB, the pilot flew a hunter and their gear to a far-off place 64 miles from St. Mary’s. After dropping off the hunter, the plane took off to come back but seems to have crashed in a remote, mountainous area.

Mr. Peltola, the pilot, is thought to have been alone in the plane.

Rep. Peltola is now on her way back home to be with her family, who requested some private time to deal with this tough situation.

McParland also mentioned in the statement that their team will keep meeting with people from the district and continue the office’s work while Mary and her family go through this sad time.
