Chad McQueen, son of the famous actor Steve McQueen and known for his role in The Karate Kid, has passed away at the age of 63.

According to Parade, he died on Wednesday, Sept. 11, due to organ failure caused by a recent injury, while at his home in Palm Desert, California.

His family confirmed the sad news in a statement shared on Instagram on Thursday, Sept. 12. Parade explains that the post, written by his wife Jeanie Galbraith and their children Chase and Madison, described Chad as a loving father who was dedicated to his family and passionate about racing, a passion he inherited from his legendary father.

Chad followed in Steve McQueen’s footsteps, both in acting and racing. He played Dutch in the original Karate Kid movie in 1984 and returned for the sequel two years later.

Parade highlights that his family asked for privacy as they remember and celebrate his life.

Chad was surrounded by his loved ones, including his wife, children, and lawyer Arthur Barens, at the time of his death. In addition to Chase and Madison, Chad is also survived by his son Steven R.

McQueen, an actor known for his role in The Vampire Diaries, from his previous marriage to Stacey Toten, Parade reports.
