Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert got married on Saturday in Northern California. They exchanged vows and put a ring on it.
After being together for eight years, Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert got married on Saturday, August 26. The wedding took place in Monterey, California. Hayley shared that they got married in front of a big tree, called the mother tree, in a redwood forest. This tree is surrounded by smaller trees that it has grown, like its children. This was special to them because they see it as planting seeds to start their own family. People magazine has exclusive photos of the wedding.
The wedding celebrations lasted for six days. They started with a welcome party at a fancy house on a cliff in Carmel. The main event was the wedding ceremony in front of 106 people. Some of the guests included Julianne Hough, Jenna Johnson, Frieda Pinto, Amy Purdy, Maria Menounos, Shawn Johnson, Nina Dobrev, Shaun White, Robert and Kym Herjavec, Alfonso Ribeiro, and Derek’s best man, Mark Ballas.
In the middle of all this, Derek and Hayley had a special dinner with their family and the friends in the wedding party. They were congratulated and wished well during this dinner.
People magazine says that Hayley wore a special dress made just for her. It was designed by Georgina Chapman from Marchesa and made of a special type of satin called duchess satin. She also wore a long veil, blusher, and jewelry from Ring Concierge. Derek, on the other hand, wore a suit from Tom Ford for the wedding ceremony.
Like we mentioned before, Derek created Hayley’s engagement ring, which was four-and-a-half carats. He got help from Chau Lui, who owns Paris Jewelers. They also got their wedding rings from the same jeweler. Derek said to E! News that he looked a lot and finally found this amazing ring that he loves. He said it was perfect, without any flaws.
After the wedding ceremony, they had a rustic reception in an old barn that’s 100 years old. For dinner, they had options like steak, salmon, and vegetarian dishes. After that, they enjoyed a huckleberry lavender cake made by Kelly Gray Cakes and a variety of desserts.
Derek explained to People magazine that they chose the location with care. They wanted to be surrounded by nature, like trees and plants. Northern California felt right because of its natural beauty. They wanted their guests to experience the romantic and lovely atmosphere of this place they adore.
The judge from Dancing With the Stars and the dancer from So You Think You Can Dance, Hayley, first met during Derek and Julianne’s “Move Live Tour” in 2014. However, they didn’t start dating until July 2015.
Even though they got married, they didn’t plan a specific dance routine for their first dance. Instead, they let their feelings and the song “Fall Into Me” by Forrest Blakk guide their dance.
In the past, Derek said to ET, “I want to get married just once. I want to be with the person I love so much. I want to really know that person well. I think, if anything, it’s not something that should be hurried into.”
