EU leaders have chosen Ursula von der Leyen to continue as the head of the European Commission for another five years.
They’ve also selected Kaja Kallas from Estonia as the EU’s next foreign affairs chief and António Costa from Portugal as the next chairman of EU summits.
These leaders come from different political backgrounds—von der Leyen is center-right, Costa is a socialist, and Kallas is liberal.
The nominations still need approval from the European Parliament next month, which could be challenging.
