Three People Burned to Death in Bunkprugu/Nakpanduri District After Violent Attack
Three bodies have been found completely burned in Nanik, a community in the Bunkprugu/Nakpanduri district of the North East Region, after a violent attack early Friday morning.
According to myjoyonline.com, one of the victims was a 27-year-old teacher, Nashiru Maijida, originally from Walewale in the West Mamprusi Municipality. He had been teaching in the village for two years before this tragic event.
The burned bodies have been taken to Binde Hospital, where an autopsy will be performed. Myjoyonline.com reports that the attack was carried out by members of a rival faction from Bimbagu.
The attackers not only killed three people but also burned nearly 50 houses and destroyed many properties, leaving the community in fear and distress.
The cause of the conflict, as reported by myjoyonline.com, is a dispute over the elevation of the Chief of Nanik to a paramountcy status.
Many people in Bimbagu strongly oppose this move, saying it should not happen. Before this violent attack, the chiefs and residents of Bimbagu had even called on the National Security and the National House of Chiefs to stop the planned promotion of the Nanik chief.
At a press conference, the leaders of Bimbagu openly warned the Chief of Nanik, Nanik Daana, never to enter their town if he is elevated.
Myjoyonline.com highlights that this dispute has caused serious tensions between the two communities, leading to this tragic and deadly attack.
