A plane crash in Wyoming on Friday, July 26, killed three members of The Nelons, a well-known family gospel group, and four other people.
The crash happened north of Gillette around 1 p.m., causing a fire in the area, according to the Campbell County Fire Department.
Gaither Management Group said the passengers were on their way to join the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska.
Kelly Nelon Clark, her husband Jason Clark, and their daughter Amber Kistler, who all sang with The Nelons, were on the plane. Their other daughter, Autumn Nelon, was not on board.
Amber’s husband, Nathan Kistler, their assistant Melodi Hodges, and the pilot Larry Haynie and his wife Melissa also died in the crash.
Autumn and her husband were traveling separately to Seattle when they heard the tragic news. Gaither Management Group said artists gathered to support them in their grief.
Autumn shared a statement on Instagram on July 27, thanking people for their prayers and support as she and her family cope with the loss.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the crash. Early information suggests there may have been an “auto pilot issue” during the flight. More details are not yet available.
