The BBC is looking for a talented journalist from Africa for the BBC News Komla Dumor Award 2025. This special award is now in its 10th year and is a great chance for African journalists to shine.

According to the BBC, journalists from all over Africa can apply. The winner will get to spend three months at the BBC’s main office in London, where they will learn new skills and gain experience. Applications will close on 20 March 2025.

The award is named after Komla Dumor, a famous Ghanaian journalist who worked for BBC World News. Sadly, he passed away 11 years ago at the age of 41.

The BBC created this award to honor his work and keep his legacy alive. His wife, Kwansema Dumor, said she is proud of her husband’s impact and thanked the BBC for remembering him through this prize.

The BBC wants to find and celebrate the best journalists in Africa. The winner will not only receive training but will also get to travel to an African country to report on a story they have researched.

This story will be shared with the BBC’s global audience, giving the winner a chance to tell African stories to the world.

Komla Dumor was known for his strong and lively reporting. He made a big difference in how Africa was seen by the rest of the world. The BBC wants to continue his work by helping African journalists share unique and important stories with international audiences.

Last year’s winner was Rukia Bulle from Kenya. During her time with the BBC, she reported on the Baye Fall, a misunderstood Muslim group in Senegal. Her work was broadcast to millions of people worldwide.

Jonathan Munro, a senior leader at BBC News, said the award is a way to honor Komla Dumor’s powerful legacy. He added that past winners have shown the amazing talent in Africa and encouraged more journalists to apply this year.

Komla Dumor was the host of Focus on Africa, the BBC’s first daily TV news show for African audiences. He also presented business news and was named one of the 100 most influential Africans in 2013.

The BBC is proud to continue his work through this award, helping African journalists grow and share their stories with the world.

If you’re a journalist in Africa with a passion for storytelling, this is your chance to make a mark. The BBC is waiting to hear from you!
